This mashup of Madonna’s Music and Where’s The Party with The Trammps Disco Inferno is just one of the (many) highlights of this
Disco-tastic performance. It starts with the sound of a faux radio station that
plays “all Madonna all the time.”
The pounding bass line of Disco Inferno is quickly mixed in with Music lyrics. And no good nod to the ‘70s should be void
of roller skaters. Note the dancer “Cloud” Campos, wearing the grey pants with
the white arrow on his backside. He moves as if he’s made of rubber and is always a joy to watch.
After this roller-skating
introduction, Madonna, along with the dancers Tamara Levinson and Addie
Yungmee, suddenly appear as if out of nowhere. Donning Saturday Night Fever-inspired white suits, they strut and point like
their queens of the dance floor. It’s when Madonna breaks free of her cohorts
and heads down the ramp to the end of the runway that garners this performance
top-five status. Madonna’s dance talent once again shines here—no doubt an homage
to Travolta’s Tony Manero in the scene from the classic film where he clears
the floor as he dances to The Bee-Gees’ You Should Be Dancing.
Later, Madonna leaves her
skaters behind and heads back up the runway full of confidence, wiping her
eyebrows with her thumbs and keeping everything in check. This time she strolls
to snippets of her 1986 song, Where’s The Party. "Where's the party?/I want to free my soul/Where's the party?/I want to lose control." This remarkable 7-minute strut down memory lane
ends with huge mirror balls being lowered down and Madonna striking one of the
most famous poses, you guessed it, the iconic Travolta pose from the Saturday
Night Fever poster. BSo
Saturday Night Fever. The clip doesn't start for a few seconds.
