I saw this music video today
from the Icelandic band, Of Monsters and Men. The group’s video for their
single, Little Talks is nothing
short of captivating. The heavy horn sound at the beginning of the song pulled
me in, while the black-and-white imagery kept me locked in. Part pirate
expedition, part mythical sci-fi adventure, the “pirates” encounter a craft
that’s crash-landed. Inside the vessel is a colorful creature that one can’t
help but notice looks like Bjork, circa 1997’s Homogenic period (well, the band is from Iceland after all).
Together, they encounter a variety of imposing creatures and fear-inducing
challenges, yet don’t underestimate the ornate fashion sense of this Shirley Manson/Gaga/Bjork-inspired Tinkerbell. She may have what looks like beautiful
butterfly wings under her eyes, but she’s anything but frilly. And in its own very unique way, the video's end can't help but inspire the iconic line: "There's no place like home." BSo
