I’ve been finding that a
reliable forum to check out great live performances on TV is BBC-America’s The Graham
Norton Show. The hilarious,
quick-witted host, plus the eclectic mix of guests sitting on a couch having a
chat make for time well spent. In addition, the last section of the show
features a musical act. Everyone from Jessie J to Scissor Sisters, who I just
saw a few weeks back, has graced the intimate studio setup.
Promoting their new
endeavor, Magic Hour, the
“Sisters” have once again put out catchy toe-tapping Pop songs, and in some
cases all-out body-moving dance beats (another case in point, Any Which Way from their last CD). Lead by the charming and very energetic Jake Shears, and the
slinky red head, Ana Matronic, Scissor Sisters never seem to disappoint. Their
songs are a delightful escape, always presented with loads of color, oodles of wackiness, and a whole lot of celebratory freedom.
Check out Magic Hour singles, Baby Come Home from The Graham Norton Show and Only The Horses from The Voice UK, which interestingly enough finds the signature
brunette, Jessie J as a judge on the show. (Her songs Domino and Laserlight have been some of my faves this year.) BSo
And the bass-heavy delight: Any Which Way
