Bass Lines: “D.A.N.C.E.” by Justice… Still Good!

I heard the 2007 song, D.A.N.C.E. by Justice this morning and I have to say that it sounds just as good now as it did then. Its bass line is not just deep, but deeep, with an extra e. I’m talking Bernard Edwards from Chic deeep. In addition, its inclusion of (violin) strings gives this song a well-rounded sound of high notes and low notes, a sound worthy of the “Studio 54” days of disco.

The video is a colorful, hypnotic work of visual art that lends to something new with every viewing. Also note the references to Michael Jackson. In the lyrics: “You were such a P.Y.T.” (P.Y.T.—Pretty Young Thing—from the album, Thriller.) There’s also a flash of Michael’s face from the Thriller video.

One of Bernard Edwards’ bass-line masterpieces: Chic’s I Want Your Love. BSo
