My Kylie Dose: “Bittersweet Goodbye” The Anti-Tour 2012

As if touring the globe throughout most of 2011 wasn’t enough, Kylie Minogue went back out on a very, very short tour in 2012. Entitled The Anti-Tour, Kylie performed a set list filled mainly with “B-sides, demos and rarities.” (Note in the clip below, the sheet-music easel on stage, needed just in case; necessary in a way on this tour, as these songs have rarely been performed live, if ever.)

Included was Bittersweet Goodbye, originally featured on her incredibly solid 2000 CD, Light Years. With the previous eight tracks on the CD representative of classic dance-pop, it’s track nine, Bittersweet Goodbye that serves as an aptly placed “pause” to all the dance “play.” The pace is reminiscent of a motherly lullaby to a drifting-into-sleep child, yet in the song, Kylie asks her “darling” to “sing me a lullaby.” Once again, Kylie’s mic is so on and the supersonic notes that are belted from such a tiny frame are always cause for marvel.

When I’ve been in need for a dose of calm this week, I’ve loaded up this performance. If you too are in need of such, say hello to Bittersweet Goodbye. BSo
