Icona Pop: “I Love It”

DJ duo, Icona Pop have burst into the U.S. market with their instantly catchy dance song, I Love It. I recently heard this song in a repeat episode of HBO’s Girls, then Bam!, I started hearing it just about everywhere.

The duo, Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, have a rebellious, shout-it-out vocal style, which is perfect for I Love It and its unapologetic, punk-vibe-inspired lyrics, albeit repetitive. Then again, with this type of dance song, who really cares if the verses are repeated. It’s all about hook; it’s all about the build up out of the slower-paced bridge and back to the jump-inducing chorus. The song of the summer has arrived… in the spring… from Sweden.
